Francesca Fini is a pioneering new media artist whose work inhabits the fertile intersection of technology, human identity, and artistic expression. With an approach that seamlessly bridges traditional media and cutting-edge digital tools, Francesca’s art speaks to a future where the boundaries between the organic and synthetic are increasingly blurred. Known for her distinct and evocative style, she crafts digital compositions that delve into the complexities of identity in a hyper-connected, digital era, exploring how technology reshapes our understanding of self, community, and reality.

Her career began in the realms of performance art and filmmaking, disciplines that deeply inform her digital practice. Building on her experience as a director, editor, and sound designer, Francesca approaches her AI and digital projects with a cinematic sensibility, producing visuals that are simultaneously calculated and hauntingly human. She works with generative AI, digital painting, and augmented reality, often merging these techniques in a style that is both surreal and hyper-realistic, creating spaces where artificial life and organic symbolism coexist. Francesca’s works are rooted in the Chthulucene, a concept by Donna Haraway, reflecting an ecological, mythological vision of human-animal-machine hybridization. Her recent short film Meccanimus, created entirely with AI for the Singapore F1 night race, offers a dystopian, poetic glimpse into a post-human world where androids struggle to find meaning, showcasing her ability to blend high-concept storytelling with commercial appeal.

More than an artist, Francesca is a philosopher of the digital age, drawing from historical, cultural, and philosophical threads to create works that question the nature of progress and existence. Her ongoing projects, such as Miraggi Digitali, a collaboration with the online magazine Rewriters, present a daily visual commentary on digital identity and future mythology. Her Metaverso delle Metafore, a metaverse designed in collaboration with Takeda Italy, transforms metaphors into immersive experiences, pushing boundaries in both art and digital therapeutics.

Her work has been presented in many important international festivals and venues, among them the 2011 WRO Biennale in Poland, NordArt International Art Exhibition in Germany, at FILE Electronic Language International Festival in Brasil, at CYBERFEST in Russia, at Instants Video numériques et poétiques in Marseille, at BORDERCROSSING collateral event @ MANIFESTA12 in Palermo, at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao for MEM Festival, at MANA Contemporary for BODY + CAMERA FESTIVAL, at MACRO and MAXXI Museum in Rome, at SomoS Art House in Berlin, at the Japan Media Arts Festival in Tokyo and the Margaret Guthman Musical Instrument Competition, organized by the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Recently, Francesca has brought her innovative spirit into Studio Fini Design, the family business where she now plays a crucial role in expanding its creative horizons. As the interior design director, she infuses technology and digital aesthetics into physical spaces, transforming interiors into environments that echo her artistic exploration of hybrid identities and sensory experiences.
